German manufacturer Sonoro unveils Atron, a compact audio system that combines the simplicity of a connected speaker, the richness of a true Hi-Fi system, and the openness of an expandable ecosystem. A true big brother to the Sonoro Stream, this versatile model is designed without compromise between design and sound quality.
For several years, the home audio market has largely focused on connected speakers, making musical [abc]streaming[/abc] and wireless control the absolute norm. Yet users’ expectations go beyond that. They indeed want to enjoy excellent sound, listen to the radio every day, extend listening to several rooms and even evolve their setup.
Sonoro Atron, connectivity on every level
It is from this observation that the Sonoro Atron was born. Following in the footsteps of the Sonoro Stream (see our news item Sonoro Stream, DAB+/FM tuner and web radios), from which it inherits the compact, standalone philosophy, the Sonoro Atron goes much further. FM[abc]/DAB+[/abc] radio, [abc]streaming[/abc], [abc]Bluetooth[/abc], multiroom network and next-generation connectivity coexist here in a significantly more premium acoustic solution. The ambition of the German brand is clear: to allow everyone to access a high-end audio experience without multiplying devices.

Sonoro Atron, acoustic package and Acoustic Lens
To meet such a wide variety of uses with consistent audio quality, regardless of volume level or listening position, Sonoro has developed a distinctive acoustic architecture. The Atron notably incorporates the exclusive Acoustic Lens technology, which broadly disperses the sound emitted by the upward-facing midrange/treble speakers throughout the space. Thus, the speaker fills the entire room, not just the listening point. In addition, to ensure well-defined bass at any volume despite its small size, the Atron integrates two bass speakers in a Push-Pull configuration, supported by a 4" (10 cm) passive radiator to provide the necessary depth. Finally, there is an equalization technology (EQ Placement) that optimizes output according to the room’s characteristics, as well as a Son 3D function that analyzes the audio signal in real time to enhance stereo separation.

Network connectivity, Auracast and ergonomics
Users get a wealth of sources in this single system: FM/DAB+ tuner, web radios (via the Airable database), podcasts, and direct access to the main streaming services (Qobuz, Spotify, Tidal, Deezer). Wireless connectivity is particularly rich with [abc]Wi Fi[/abc], [abc]AirPlay[/abc] and Google Chromecast protocols (built-in), as well as classic Bluetooth and the recent Bluetooth LE Audio (which will be compatible with [abc]Auracast[/abc] via an update planned for the fourth quarter). A multiroom function will also be deployed at the end of the year.
The Atron was designed to integrate naturally into the home’s technological environment, including various Smart Home systems. Control is handled via an elegant control panel located on the top of the product (see photo above), the supplied remote control or the dedicated Sonoro app. Conveniently, it also includes an alarm function and memory for 99 favorite stations/tracks. An [abc]Ethernet[/abc] port completes the network connectivity.

A premium design built to last
Aesthetically, the Atron fully aligns with the manufacturer’s philosophy and adopts the timeless visual codes of its most upscale predecessors, such as the Meisterstück Gen 2 or the Avaton. Its clean lines and carefully finished fabric allow it to blend into any interior (living room, bedroom, office), as well as professional environments (hotels, premium boutiques). Working perfectly as a standalone system, the Atron also serves as a gateway into the Sonoro universe, with the possibility of gradually expanding the setup with the brand’s current or future connected components.
