Loyalty to the iPhone: why do Apple users refuse to switch to Android in the USA?

In the United States, loyalty to the apple brand continues to strengthen. When it comes time to renew their smartphone, iPhone owners are increasingly likely to remain loyal to the iOS ecosystem, even attracting a significant share of former Android users along the way.

Although the smartphone market is extremely competitive, Apple seems to have found the magic formula to keep its customers on the other side of the Atlantic. The latest figures confirm a strong trend: leaving the Cupertino company’s ecosystem is an option that American consumers are considering less and less when they renew their device.

87% of iPhone buyers stay with Apple

According to a recent survey by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP), 87% of iPhone buyers in the USA in the first quarter already owned an Apple smartphone before this purchase.

Constantly rising loyalty since 2024

This figure is thus up compared with the same period in 2025, when it was 84%, and in 2024, when it was 85%. This helps confirm the growing loyalty of iPhone users, already noted by other similar studies at the beginning of the year, and in 2025.

Are Android users switching to the competition?

We also learn that 12% of buyers in this first quarter previously owned a competing Android model. All in all, these results highlight the maturity of the smartphone market, in which consumers generally remain loyal to a brand and its ecosystem.
