Sony Bravia 9 II and Bravia 7 II TVs: Direct Connect, My Cinema mode and new remote control

Alongside the new Bravia 9 II and Bravia 7 II True RGB TVs, Sony is rolling out a series of major software and ergonomic innovations across its 2026 TV lineup. These include the complete elimination of the soundbar required for home theater setups, a new exclusive calibration mode, and a redesigned remote control.
While attention is rightfully focused on the brightness and unprecedented color range of the latest generation of displays unveiled by the Japanese company yesterday, the user experience and integration of these screens into the living room are taking a decisive leap forward this year. The Sony Bravia 9 II (XR95M2) and Sony Bravia 7 II (XR75M2) True RGB TV series share three particularly significant new features. Direct Connect Function: The TV becomes the conductor of your home cinema. The Direct Connect functionality is undoubtedly the most remarkable feature presented by the brand. It simply eliminates the need for a soundbar or external audio box, allowing you to build a true multi-channel system with True RGB 2026 TVs. Thanks to this proprietary wireless connection, users can directly connect optional rear surround speakers (such as the new Bravia Theatre Rear 9) and up to two Bravia subwoofers (Sub 9, Sub 8, or Sub 7) to the TV's built-in speakers. Leveraging the TV's original audio hardware, the TV's processor handles channel distribution and spatial calibration. The television then establishes itself as the autonomous and central conductor of a multi-channel setup, without a single visible cable. A firmware update for the Direct Connect function is planned for the Sony Bravia 9, Sony Bravia 8 II, Sony Bravia 8, Sony Bravia 7, Sony Bravia 5, and Sony A95L TV series. New "My Cinema" mode: optimized viewing. Sony is further enriching its ecosystem of image certifications. In addition to the already well-known and recognized Studio Calibrated profiles such as Netflix Adaptive Calibrated Mode, Prime Video Calibrated Mode, and Bravia Core Calibrated Mode, the Japanese brand is introducing My Cinema mode. Developed to adapt on the fly to various movie content, this exclusive preset has been specifically configured to optimize image processing and sound dynamics when watching a feature film. The goal is to instantly deliver colorimetry and sound rendering as close as possible to the original intentions of Hollywood studio cinematographers, without requiring tedious manual adjustments via menus.

Inclusive remote control and eco-design Physical ergonomics haven't been overlooked. The 2026 True RGB display ranges come with a brand-new, eco-designed remote control that prioritizes accessibility. It features an inclusive design, offering improved tactile clarity for identifying key buttons by touch, as well as software ergonomics specifically adapted for audio narration functions.
