A brief recap of the K-pop phenomenon Demon Hunters, almost a year after the Netflix film defied all expectations to become one of the biggest hits of 2025.
According to a recent study by Ampere Analysis (via Advanced Television), Kpop Demon Hunters was the most popular film across all streaming platforms in 2025, and the most-watched film of all time on Netflix, with over 1 billion hours of viewing. In a market dominated by sequels and franchises, Kpop Demon Hunters managed the feat of establishing an original story while creating a cultural impact on par with series that have been around for years, like Stranger Things. Kpop Demon Hunters: What was the peak viewing time? Ampere notes that successes in the "Children & Family" category have a longer lifespan than hits in other genres. K-pop Demon Hunters reached its peak viewership after 11 weeks, while Netflix's Top 20 original films typically reach this peak after only one or two weeks before fading into obscurity. "The film's musical core extended its reach beyond the platform and encouraged repeat viewings," explains Joe Hall, research manager at Ampere Analysis. "Its themes, rooted in the global Korean cultural wave, helped build a highly engaged international fanbase. With a sequel already announced, K-pop Demon Hunters demonstrates that there is still significant value in developing original intellectual properties capable of appealing to diverse age groups." The video above shows a K-pop Demon Hunters sing-along session where all age groups are indeed represented.
