A Donkey Kong movie in 2028?

Certainly by accident, Universal Pictures' Spanish branch confirmed the release date for the next film from the collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination: it will be in April 2028. A monkey on Planet Nintendo! After Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Galaxy, what will this third project be? While it's easy to bet on a third Super Mario film, let's remember that the releases of the first two feature films were three years apart (the first arrived in April 2023, the second just a few weeks ago). So, 2028 seems a bit too soon… Another possibility is a film dedicated to the great ape Donkey Kong, already mentioned in previous rumors. In any case, it seems that Nintendo is satisfied with its cooperation with Illumination. Animated films from the video game giant's universe are therefore not about to stop anytime soon.
