Philips TAB5201: Compact 2.0 soundbar to enhance TV sound

In mid-March, at its European conference in Berlin, Philips unveiled a new range of soundbars comprising the TAB8301, TAB5601, and TAB5201 models. All three feature a sleek European design, simplified setup via the Philips Entertainment app, and the integration of the Intellisound Engine AI audio processing. Here's a look at the Philips TAB5201, the most compact and affordable of the three.
Designed to significantly improve TV sound without adding a subwoofer, it targets users looking for a simple and discreet solution. Philips TAB5201: Compact size and wide soundstage. With its small dimensions (766 × 65 × 91 mm) and 80 W RMS power output, the Philips TAB5201 (top in the photo below) fits easily under most TVs. Philips advertises a wide soundstage despite the absence of a subwoofer, thanks to optimized amplification and careful digital processing.

Philips TAB5201: Dolby Digital+, DTS Virtual:X and Bluetooth 5.4££££

The soundbar supports Dolby Digital+ and DTS Virtual:X soundtracks to widen the soundstage and enhance effects. It also features HDMI ARC and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity with LE Audio compatibility, ideal for music or mobile content.

Philips TAB5201: Intellisound Engine, simplified control and connectivity££££

Like higher-end models, the Philips TAB5201 incorporates the Intellisound Engine feature to automatically optimize sound reproduction. Control is possible via the included remote control or the Philips Entertainment app, with integrated LED indicators to display the soundbar's status. Finally, the Philips TAB5201 features an HDMI output with ARC functionality, an optical input, a 3.5 mm mini-jack input, and a USB-A port. Availability is expected in June. Suggested retail price: €129.
