Foldable screen iPad in 2029?
06.03.2026 • 16h29
It's confirmed: technical difficulties will delay Apple's first foldable iPad.
Confirming his report published at the end of last year, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg states that Apple is continuing development of its foldable tablet, despite the technical challenges along the way. The large 18-inch foldable screen poses a problem. It is particularly the implementation of the large 18-inch (45.7 cm) foldable screen and the weight of the device, currently 1.6 kg (too heavy for a tablet), that are causing headaches for Apple engineers. They are working tirelessly to create a product that meets the company's high standards. The foldable iPad, target 2029, will therefore not arrive before 2029 and will be presented as a kind of 13-inch MacBook Air in folded mode, without an external screen. Unfolded, it reveals the 18-inch screen, without a keyboard. It's worth noting that a large OLED screen, manufactured by Samsung, is expensive. Especially since it's foldable. Gurman therefore estimates that the device could cost up to $3,900.
