Expected to arrive in stores at the end of the year, the very first iPhone with a foldable screen has naturally generated a lot of buzz in recent months and weeks, lending credibility not only to its existence, but also to its main technical characteristics. Here is a new, updated summary of what we know about the device, based on the rumors that have been circulating for some time, with links to our related news articles where applicable. iPhone Fold (still a rumored name), expected key specifications: • Thickness between 9 mm and 9.5 mm when folded, between 4.5 mm and 4.8 mm when unfolded • Foldable display with a 7.74" (19.66 cm) diagonal and a resolution of approximately 2713 x 1920 pixels; 5.5" (13.97 cm) and 2088 x 1422 pixels for the external display • Use of a polyimide protective film for the ultra-thin foldable display, which is surface rigid and scratch-resistant • External casing made of a titanium and aluminum composite • Invisible crease in the center of the display thanks to a structure, lamination method, and treatment Materials developed by Apple, with production entrusted to Samsung Display • No Face ID but a Touch ID fingerprint sensor • The power button (with Touch ID) and the camera control button remain on the right side, as with recent iPhones.
