New iPhone release schedule, why?

Starting this year, the various models in the iPhone range will not all be released at the same time, for both marketing reasons, of course, but also for practical ones.
Rumors have been swirling for quite some time now regarding Apple's new iPhone release schedule. Until now, all models, except for the occasional SE, were released in September. Now, the iPhone Pro models will arrive in September, while the base iPhone will launch the following spring. The goal? To spread out production and highlight all models. This plan was recently corroborated by the Japanese media outlet Nikkei, which offered some explanations. Knowing that the Pro and Pro Max models generate the most demand at launch, Apple will separate the releases to give more prominence to the base model, the iPhone 18 in this case, which won't be overshadowed by its premium siblings. Another reason is to ease the pressure on production lines. Spreading releases throughout the year will allow suppliers to limit the surge in hiring needed during device manufacturing.
