The Batman Part II: filming, working title, script… we tell you everything
16.02.2026 • 10h17
Filming for The Batman: Part II, directed by Matt Reeves, is scheduled to begin in April in the UK. Its working title has just been revealed: Vengeance 2.
Hollywood North Buzz reported the news, a revelation that wasn't entirely surprising since the first film was shot under the title Vengeance. Mattson Tomlin, who co-wrote the film with Reeves, spoke about X when the news broke. In response to a fan's question, he said: "We worked exceptionally hard to tell a story worthy of the character. Something that feels new and dangerous. The bar couldn't be higher. I can't wait for people to see it and for us to be able to talk about it at length. I can't begin to describe what this film means to me… We truly, literally, gave it our all, beyond our limits." As for the cast, Sebastian Stan joins the adventure as Harvey Dent, alongside Scarlett Johansson, who will play his wife, Gilda Dent. Also returning are Robert Pattinson (Bruce Wayne/Batman), Colin Farrell (Oz Cobb/The Penguin), Andy Serkis (Alfred Pennyworth), and Jeffrey Wright (Commissioner James Gordon). Plot details remain confidential for now. This announcement comes as this weekend marked the sixth anniversary of Robert Pattinson's first reveal as Batman in February 2020. Filming for the sequel will take place primarily at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, as well as in Liverpool and Glasgow. The theatrical release is scheduled for October 1, 2027. It's been a long time coming, but it seems all the signs are finally positive for this new Batman project to watch closely. It was about time. Review of the first film by clicking on The Batman.
