Is Apple's foldable screen more robust than Samsung's?

While still an open secret, the first foldable iPhone is expected to arrive this September, and it could have a more durable screen than its direct competitor, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold. Foldable iPhone, polyimide screen protector? This is according to the Korean media outlet The Elec, which reports that Apple might use a polyimide protective film for the ultra-thin foldable screen of its iPhone. This material was used on the very first Samsung Galaxy Fold in 2019, but Samsung abandoned it the following year in favor of polyethylene terephthalate (or PET). PET is indeed cheaper, but less rigid on the surface and less scratch-resistant. Apple is therefore leaning towards a more premium approach and would also choose this material to differentiate itself from the competition.
