CES 26 > Sony True RGB 2026: the Japanese manufacturer's response is being prepared…

It's trademark filing season. After Samsung and LG (see our CES 26 news > Samsung OLED & Mini LED 2026 Ultra HD 4K TV range and CES 26 > LG C6 and G6 OLED TVs already NRRA certified), it's Sony's turn to file for the True RGB name. This undoubtedly applies to their upcoming 2026 Mini LED RGB TV series.
This designation, registered in Japan and Canada and discovered by The Walkman Blog, confirms once again the Japanese manufacturer's intention to present Mini LED RGB models in 2026. Mini LED RGB TVs confirm Sony's offensive in 2026. More broadly, this designation suggests the beginnings of a strategy that is certainly heavily weighted in favor of this technology compared to OLED (still present) in its future TV range, as predicted by the market research and analysis firm Ombia this summer (see our news article "Sony TV 2026 Bravia 9 II/Bravia 7 II, focusing on Mini LED RGB technology?"). According to the Omdia document, Mini LED RGB technology will indeed be featured in the Sony Bravia 7II and Sony Bravia 9 II TV series, with screen sizes ranging from 50" (127 cm) to 115" (292 cm) for a total of 11 models, with a target peak brightness of 4,000 nits. This designation would finally confirm the brand's press release published at the IFA 2025 trade show in Berlin, in which Sony made a strong case for Mini LED RGB (see our IFA 25 news > Sony votes for Mini LED RGB, what about the future of OLED?).
