A vinyl record player for CDs, a great concept!

A concept bordering on the whimsical for this CD player that reads your discs as if they were vinyl records.
Conceptualized by designer Jaehyung Chu, Vivia is a product that, alas, doesn't exist but would delight audiophiles and lovers of beautiful objects if it were ever to materialize. With a shortened arm, it is indeed a CD player equipped with a tonearm usually reserved for vinyl turntables. The tonearm isn't functional as such, but positions itself on the disc at the right spot depending on the music's duration, moving from the outside to the inside of the CD as it plays. It's even possible to skip to any point on the album by moving it yourself. Vinyl stronger than CD: The best of both worlds, then, with CD quality on one hand, and the physical ritual of using a vinyl turntable on the other. A visual and conceptual triumph that almost makes us consider the Vivia a "reconciliation" device, especially given that the vinyl market surpassed the CD market in the United States in 2022 for the first time since 1987.
