Nintendo Switch 2, best console launch of all time

In its latest quarterly earnings announcement (for the quarter ending September 2025), Nintendo announced it has sold 10.36 million (!) Switch 2 consoles since its launch in June 2025, making it the best launch of all time, across all consoles. Nintendo has revised its Switch 2 production forecast upwards. For comparison, the first Switch sold 4.7 million units over the same period, and the current record holder, the PlayStation 5, sold 7.8 million. Consequently, Nintendo has raised its sales forecast for the first year of its latest console, from 15 million to 19 million units. This helps explain why the manufacturer recently increased production of its machine. If this figure of 19 million is reached, the Switch 2 would become Nintendo's best-selling console in its first year, surpassing the Game Boy Advance's 18.1 million units.
