Losing your iPhone, Mac, or other Apple device is never fun. Fortunately, many people have found relief in recovering their belongings thanks to the manufacturer's Find My option, which allows you to locate your device remotely. This option has recently contributed to the dismantling of a large-scale stolen iPhone ring in the UK.
The word to Detective Inspector Mark Gavin££££
While the investigation was ongoing, late last year on Christmas Eve, a man's iPhone was stolen, which he managed to locate (via Find My) in a warehouse near Heathrow Airport. "The security service on site was keen to help, and they discovered that the phone was in a box, among 894 other phones," Detective Inspector Mark Gavin told the BBC.
Slowly, this incident led to a larger haul of 2,000 stolen phones and 18 arrests (a scourge at the moment in England). The network is suspected of having stolen up to 40,000 smartphones in the UK and sent them to China.
