Already available in China, the TCL Z100 Dolby Atmos FlexConnect wireless speaker (except for the power cable) is therefore setting out to conquer the United States and Europe this summer. At the same time, TCL has announced that its 2025 QM8K, QM7K and QM6K Mini LED TVs will feature the Dolby Atmos FlexConnect function exclusively at launch.
Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, what is it?££££
As a reminder, Dolby Atmos FlexConnect technology allows you to pair suitable speakers with a compatible TV to enjoy an immersive sound environment, like the Sony Bravia Theater Quad or Sony HT-A9 products (click to discover the product test by the AVcesar editorial team). Designed to evolve, a Dolby Atmos FlexConnect configuration allows you to start with an additional speaker and add up to four (limited at TCL) without counting the Z100-SW wireless subwoofer (130 W), the TV can serve as a center channel.
Advantage of the Dolby Atmos FlexConnect functionality? Free placement of the speakers in the room and automatic calibration with each evolution of the system in the form of adding a speaker. And if you feel like changing the decoration of the room by changing the location of the TV, adding/removing a piece of furniture at the precise location of the speaker/one of the Dolby Atmos FlexConnect speakers, a few minutes later an automatic calibration and sound consistency is back.
As you will have understood, this feature aims to offer an alternative solution to the installation of a traditional surround sound system often constrained by the dimensions of the room, the location of the sockets and the mounting requirements (wall mounting of the speakers) and wiring.
TCL Z100, acoustic package££££
The TCL Z100 speaker is equipped with four speakers (and not three as initially announced): a [abc]boomer[/abc], a [abc]tweeter[/abc] front and two full-range speakers, one of which is oriented upwards with a 15% inclination to meet the specifications [abc]Dolby Atmos[/abc] (configuration 1.1.1) and delivers a total power of 170 watts. Thus, four TCL Z100 speakers associated with the integrated speakers of one of the televisions mentioned above, allow to create a configuration 7.1.4 discrete channels. Note, in [abc]Bluetooth[/abc] 5.3 mode, the TCL Z100 speakers can also be used in [abc]2.0[/abc] configuration.
Availability announced for early July, normally in three colors: gray, teal blue and beige. Indicative price: €249 for the TCL Z100 speaker, price still unknown for the subwoofer.
