Uncharted 2, the script is already written, Mark Wahlberg confirms

The screenplay for the second opus of the film adaptation of the Uncharted video game franchise has already been written.

After numerous aborted projects, a first Uncharted film adapted from the famous video game and directed by Ruben Fleischer (Venom), with Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg in the respective roles of Nathan Drake and Victor “Sully” Sullivan, was released in 2022.

Mark Wahlberg, will come back, will not come back?

Far from being exceptional but not unworthy, this first Uncharted still earned $400 million worldwide with an initial budget of $120 million. A sequel was more than likely and it is Mark Wahlberg himself who has just confirmed its good progress: “I have heard a lot of ideas. I know someone wrote a script, they're working on it, and in it I have a mustache. Which makes sense after all, since I was wearing it in the last sequence. I would be open to the idea of returning if this sequel is up to par, but at the moment I don't know any more than you."

Who wrote the script for Uncharted 2?

The final three writers considered for this sequel were Rafe Judkins, Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. We don't yet know which of them is the author of the scenario announced as already written, but things are moving forward, that's for sure. Note that the two actors, Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, still have many years ahead of them to appear in the franchise since their counterparts in the game are respectively 31 and 58 years old when they meet for the first time, while the two actors are only 27 and 52 years old respectively.
