Nintendo has officially announced the development of a live-action film adaptation of its The Legend of Zelda video game franchise.

Wes Ball, the recent director of Planet of the Apes: The New Kingdom and The Maze Runner, was chosen to carry out this project. Less good news, Derek Connolly, screenwriter of the Jurassic World trilogy, Kong: Skull Island and Pokémon: Detective Pikachu, was commissioned to write the screenplay.

The creator of the game Shigaru Miyamoto becomes producer of the film

The project will be co-financed by Nintendo at more than 50% and by Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. Game creator Shigaru Miyamoto and Avi Arad will produce the film. Miyamoto said in a statement: “I have been working on a live action adaptation of Zelda for years now, starring Avi Arad-san, which has produced many hits. I asked Avi-san to produce this film with me, and we officially started development with Nintendo being very involved in the production. The production will be long, but I hope you are already looking forward to seeing the result.” So to be continued. Source: Videogameschronicle.com
