Netflix Cloud gaming on TV and PC, it’s becoming clearer

After the mobile version, Netflix is preparing the imminent arrival of the video game on the big screen, but this time in streaming.

Since the end of 2021, the streaming platform Netflix has diversified its activity by launching a free video game offer, reserved for its subscribers. Games only available on mobile devices, but the platform revealed last summer the extension of its activity to PCs, multimedia boxes, Smart TVs and other devices with the Netflix application, or even on computers via Netflix.com.

Netflix Cloud Gaming in testing in Canada, United States and United Kingdom

The test thus began in August 2023 for a limited selection of users in Canada and the United Kingdom. And while mobile games are downloadable, Netflix games on the big screen use streaming technology (Cloud Gaming). In an update to its initial announcement, Netflix recently said that the test will be expanded to the United States, a sign that the official rollout is fast approaching.

Netflix Cloud Gaming, games and compatible devices

As a reminder, only two games are available for testing - Oxenfree and Molehew's Mining Adventure - controlled by keyboard and mouse on PC, and with the Netflix Game Controller iPhone application for TVs. Compatible devices include: Amazon Fire TV players, Chromecast with Google TV, LG Smart TVs, nVidia Shield TVs, Roku devices and TVs, and Samsung Smart TVs. Other materials will be added to this list later, Netflix said.
