Ridley Scott has already seen the upcoming Alien movie, and his verdict is clear

Alien director Ridley Scott gives his thoughts on Alien Romulus, the next film in the franchise directed by Fede Alvarez and produced by Disney.

During an interview alongside his colleague Guillermo del Toro at the 2023 edition of the DGA Latino Summit, Fede Álvarez (Don't Breathe, Evil Dead, The Girl in the Spider's Web), revealed that he had already showed his film to Ridely Scott.

Fede Álvarez-Ridley Scott, a momentous meeting

Fede Álvarez explains: “I finished my edit last week and I said to myself that I had to send it to Ridley (Scott). I wanted him to find out before anyone else. Everyone then wanted to warn me that Ridley tends to be harsh, especially if the project in question has anything to do with his own films. He was uncompromising with Blade Runner 2049, although personally I think it's a masterpiece. He had some problems with the film, because somehow it's also part of his work that it's about.

He continues: “Obviously, I told myself that I had no chance. But I insisted on it, even if he didn't ask me anything, even if he said to me "You destroyed my heritage". If he was going to say that to me, I wanted him to say it to my face, eye to eye. Finally, he came into the room and he said to me, "Fede, what do you want me to tell you? It's fucking killer."

Before continuing: “Having a master like him, a man I deeply admire, seeing one of my films, and moreover this one… then having this same man tell me about what he loved it for an hour... One of the best compliments he could give me was about the dialogue. He asked me if I had written them. Eh yes ! ”.

Hit or miss

Ridley Scott's opinion is certainly sincere to the extent that he has not held back in the past from giving his unfiltered opinion on Denis Villeneuve's Blade Runner 2049: “It's too damn long and half of the script is mine.” Suffice it to say that Fede Alvarez must have been relieved to hear Ridley Scott be so rave about his film. Alien Romulus, starring Cailee Spaeny, Isabela Merced, David Jonsson, Archie Reneaux, Spike Fearn and Aileen Wu, is set for release on August 14, 2024. Source: avpgalaxy
