CES 23 > Hisense L5H Ultra HD 4K Laser TV: HDR Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, Alexa…

A look back at the Chinese manufacturer's 2023 Laser TV range with, after the Hisense L9HE series (see our CES 23 news > Laser TV Hisense L9HE TriChroma UHD 4K, 107% Rec.2020 and HDR Dolby Vision), the Hisense L5HE series , replacement of the L5F.

As a reminder, in addition to the Hisense L9HE Trichroma Laser TV series, the manufacturer is also planning the Hisense PL1 for 2023 (see our Hisense PL1 Ultra HD 4K Cinema Laser news: ultra short focal length, Dolby Atmos, Vidaa U6, Alexa …), first reference of the new Laser Cinéma family.

Laser TV Hisense L5HE, what developments compared to Hisense L5F?

In 2023, the Hisense L5HE Laser TVs will sport a new design, will integrate the Smart TV Vidaa U6 function, HDR Dolby Vision compatibility, an HDMI 2.0b input with the eARC function and new image processing announced by the manufacturer, particularly in terms of motion compensation MEMC (Motion Estimation/Motion Compensation) and contrast/colorimetry.

We remind you that all Hisense Laser TV reference screens, supplied, are ALR or CLR obedient (Ambient Light Rejecting or Ceiling Light Rejecting based on the Fresnel principle) to enjoy a quality image even in full day.

Hisense L5HE TV Laser, 83% DCI-P3 Gamut

For the rest of the technical characteristics, thanks to the presence of the X-Fusion Laser Light Engine module and a blue laser as a light source, the Hisense L5HE Laser TVs display 83% of the DCI-P3 gamut. And their brightness is announced at 2,700 lumens. Of course, a few tens of centimeters of distance are always enough to enjoy a very large image, 32.5 cm very exactly to display an image up to 100'' (254 cm).

Hisense L5HE TV laser, DLP chip with wobulation

For the rest, the Hisense Laser TV L5HE incorporate a TI Ultra HD 4K DLP chip with a response time of 32 µs, which is 500 times faster than an LCD TV. Without further precision from the manufacturer (likewise, the nature of the colored wheel is not mentioned), we are betting on a 0.47'' (1.19 cm) DMD matrix which has 2,048 x 1,200 pixels and of which a 1,920 x 1,080 pixel section is used to generate an Ultra HD 4K image through the XPR4 (wobulation) process signed by Texas Instrument. As a reminder, the latter uses the hyper-high switching speed of the mirrors (7 microseconds) via specific video processing to create 8 million pixels for each image displayed (one real pixel ultimately results in four pixels).

Laser TV Hisense L5HE, HDR Dolby Vision and HDR10+

As mentioned above, for use in broad daylight, the specific screen provided offers the particularity of absorbing the ambient light to make room for the projected image. Namely, the latter is no longer rigid like the one delivered with previous versions of Laser TV, but flexible and stored in a casing. On the HDR side, in addition to the Dolby Vision HDR mentioned above, HDR10, HDR10+ and HDR HLG technologies are present.

Laser TV Hisense L5HE, the rest of the specifications, in bulk

For the rest of the Hisense L5HE Laser TV specifications, we note the Dolby Atmos certification, an integrated sound bar with a total power of 30 W (2 x 15 W), an equalizer, a DVB-T2 tuner, DVB -C, DVB-S2, HBBTV compatibility, PVR (recording on external HDD) and Time Shifting functions, management of the VP9 codec (in addition to HEVC), motion compensation MEMC (Motion Estimation/Motion Compensation) and a UHD 4K upscaling of course.

Vidaa U6 Interface

On the menu again, the Vidaa U6 Smart TV function, the sixth version of the Hisense platform, combined with a particularly fast Quad Core processor. Vidaa U6 is always the integration of Amazon Alexa voice assistant. Artificial intelligence is also part of it, for example to display Netflix recommendations on the right of the screen according to the tastes of the viewer(s), real-time weather information, or even information on the best applications. from the moment.

Vidaa U6 will also allow automatic recognition of peripherals connected to the TV (decoder, game console, Blu-Ray player, etc.) for greatly improved ergonomics. Finally, Vidaa U6 is also a completely redesigned remote control with various keys giving direct and quick access to your favorite applications (Deezer, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, YouTube…).

Connectivity and connectivity

The Hisense LHE Laser TV connectors have four HDMI CEC 2.0b inputs (including one eARC compatible), two USB 2.0 ports, one Composite, one RCA stereo, one optical output, one CI+ port and one Ethernet port. On the connectivity side, there are the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth functions (to connect a suitable keyboard and/or mouse), the UPnP (DLNA) multimedia gateway and the Miracast function.
