Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 foldable, few changes, still just as practical

After the Galaxy Z Fold 4 (see our Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 news, still as expensive a foldable smartphone), Samsung recently unveiled the latest addition to its second range of foldable screen smartphones, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 with clapper.

Samsung's new Galaxy Z Flip 4 folding screen smartphone, made of aluminum and Gorilla Glass Victus+ for the screen, was unveiled on August 10 at the manufacturer's Unpacked event. Here's what we know about it.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4, processor and Ram/Flash memory

At the heart of this new model is an Octa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor (1 x 3.19 GHz Cortex-X2 + 3 x 2.75 GHz Cortex-A710 + 4 x 1.80 GHz Cortex-A510 ) engraved in 4 nm, supported by an Adreno 730 graphics chip, 8 GB of Ram and 128 GB, 256 GB or 512 GB of Flash memory (still no micro-SD memory card reader to extend the memory). There is also a 3,700 mAh battery, fast charge (25 W) and power sharing functions and wireless charging compatibility (15 W), i.e. slightly higher specifications compared to the previous model.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4, photo and video capabilities

As far as the cameras are concerned, the Galaxy Flip 4 evolves very moderately compared to its predecessor. There are two sensors on the back: 12 Mpxls wide-angle (f / 1.8, 24 mm, photosite 1.8 µm, Dual Pixel PDAF, stabilized) and 12 Mpxls ultra-wide-angle (f / 2.2, photosite 1.12 µm), plus a 10 Mpxls wide-angle sensor (f / 2.4, 26 mm, photosite 1.22 µm) for the selfie camera. The Flex Mode is always present, it allows to display the content captured by the rear camera on the upper part of the screen while the lower part is dedicated to the control of the smartphone and the functionality.

For video, recording is supported up to 4K Ultra HD at 60fps, 1080p at up to 240fps, or 720p at up to 960fps. For its part, the Selfie camera provides UHD 4K capture at 30 frames per second.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4, screens

Let's not forget to remember the practical side of the Galaxy Z Flip 4, which retains an extremely small footprint with the shape of a square when folded. The screen does not change in size (Amoled 6.7 '' for 17 cm, 426 ppi, 1,080 x 2,640 pixels, peak brightness of 1,200 nits, and HDR10+ compatibility) and takes over the novelty introduced in the previous version : the refresh rate 120 hertz. The external screen (1.9'' for 4.8 cm) is also Obedience Oled displays a resolution of 260 x 512 pixels (302 dpi).

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4, connectivity

On the connector side, there is a USB-C port, a fingerprint sensor (on the side), a GPS, and Wi-Fi 6, NFC, and Bluetooth 5.2 compatibility. Finally, the Android 12 operating system is at work and IPX8 certification (waterproofing guaranteed at 2 m depth for 30 minutes) is on the menu. The colors offered for this new model are lavender, rose gold, graphite, and blue.

Scheduled for release at the end of August. Indicative price: €1,109 for the 128 GB version, €1,169 for the 256 GB version, €1,289 for the 512 gigabyte version.
