Today LG is the only TV manufacturer to offer Dolby Vision compatibility for gaming up to 4K resolution at 120fps (4K120) with VRR (variable refresh rate). But this compatibility will affect other brands from next year.
Pentonic processor signed Dolby and MediaTek
Dolby and MediaTek have indeed announced that their next Pentonic processor for 8K and 4K Ultra HD televisions will be the first MediaTek model compatible with Dolby Vision HDR enhancements for gaming: 4K120, ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode, automatic low latency ), and VRR.
Pentonic processor planned for the end of 2022
More than 60% of televisions worldwide are equipped with MediaTek processors, including brands such as Panasonic, Philips, Samsung and Sony. The Pentonic series of processors will arrive in 8K and 4K Smart TVs as early as the second half of 2022 for manufacturers, meaning that these models will be released at the earliest end of 2022, more likely in 2023.
