Abyss finally in 4K Ultra HD? James Cameron has finished the remaster!

While promoting the release of his book Black Tech (50 years of concept art from Terminator to Aliens to Titanic and Avatar on 392 pages), director James Cameron opened the door to a future 4K UHD edition of Abyss.

He told the Space.com site about a possible HD master of Abyss, his film released in 1989: “Yes, we have finished the restoration and I wanted to do it myself because Mikael did such a wonderful job with the photography for this film. It really, really is a great photograph! He did a remarkable job on this film which I enjoy even more now than when I was making it. So, I finished the new high definition master a few months ago, so I guess there will be Blu-Rays and the film will be released in its new setting soon. ”

No date but it's getting closer

We hope with all our hearts that the director assumes and that this new high definition version of Abyss will definitely leave the Arlésienne category to become in the near future a very tangible reality.
