Based on figures from the Gfk institute, Statista has shown the evolution of turnover generated by connected objects, also known by the surname IoT (internet of things), or internet of things.
Progression of the distribution of the turnover of the connected objects market
In 2020, this figure rose to 2.678 billion euros, an increase of 59% compared to 2019 when this figure was 1.680 billion. Out of the Internet of Things sector as a whole, the Smart Home section comes out on top, accounting for more than half of turnover. Next come “wearables” (watches, bracelets and other connected portable accessories) with a third of the total. The rest - just over 10% - is for drones, health devices and other connected gadgets.
