While the first iPhone Duo has just appeared on the market, Apple is already preparing its successor. According to the latest leaks from Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, the Cupertino firm is currently testing prototypes of the iPhone Duo 2 integrating Face ID technology, a major omission from the first generation.
No time for nonsense at Apple. If its first foldable-screen smartphone has just been released, the iPhone Duo, the company is already working on the successor to the iPhone Duo, which should naturally correct its teething problems. Still very well informed about the inner workings of the Californian firm, Mark Gurman tells us that the company has already produced prototypes of the devices meant to take over.
The return of Face ID on the foldable screen
The technology primarily integrated into these prototypes would be Face ID facial recognition. Greatly absent from the inaugural model, it posed a real challenge, its components still taking up too much space inside such a thin device. For the moment, the current iPhone Duo therefore only has Touch ID fingerprint recognition located on the side button, as is the case for some iPads.
Artificial intelligence to the rescue
Last September, Mark Gurman already explained that Apple was counting not only on future advances in miniaturization, but also on its AI algorithms, to manage to integrate these components while offsetting drastically reduced camera lens sizes.
