Jenna Ortega wants to take a break from series after Wednesday

Jenna Ortega, star of the series Wednesday on Netflix, does not plan to commit to a new television series once her adventure with the Addams family is over.

Currently in the midst of promoting Klara and the Sun, the actress spoke about this topic during an interview given to the Happy Sad Confused podcast. Asked about the possibility of joining a new franchise, she replied: “In reality, I haven’t had many discussions about other franchises. What I’m meant to do will eventually come to me. I think that after Wednesday, I’ll probably be stepping away from television for a while. I spent many years doing it. As a child, I would go from one series to the next, and today, I want to give myself time to explore new things.”

Before triumphing in Wednesday, Jenna Ortega had notably made her mark on television in Jane the Virgin and Harley, the cadet of my worries (Stuck in the Middle). She has since successfully transitioned to film, notably thanks to her participation in two installments of the Scream saga.

Wednesday and Jenna Ortega, is it almost over?

Last August, the actress told Esquire magazine that the series was approaching its conclusion. While Netflix has still not specified that the third season of Wednesday, already filmed, would be the last, the actress’s statements could well suggest an upcoming ending.

Jenna Ortega nevertheless has no shortage of projects on the big screen. She will notably star in The Gallerist, a dark-humored thriller directed by Cathy Yan, as well as The Great Beyond, a science-fiction fantasy film by J.J. Abrams. Two feature films expected in 2027.
