Apple Watch Ultra 4: 50 hours of battery life, S11 chip and 3,000-nit display for the extreme smartwatch

In the wake of the Series 12, Apple unveiled its new connected watch dedicated to demanding athletes and adventurers with the Apple Watch Ultra 4. On the menu for this new titanium model: a record 50-hour battery life, very high-precision health tracking managed by the new S11 chip, and an ultra-bright display reaching 3,000 nits.

The Apple Watch Ultra was designed to be the ultimate sports and adventure watch. With the Apple Watch Ultra 4, the Cupertino company goes even further. Offered in a robust 49 mm titanium case (now available in natural or black finish), it features groundbreaking health and activity tracking to help athletes improve their performance. And with its considerably extended endurance for workouts, users can always count on it to help them get closer to their goals, from the athletics track to mountain peaks.

Apple Watch Ultra 4, S11 chip and very high-precision health tracking Heart data is fundamental to optimizing performance and tracking overall health. Redesigned with more powerful optical and electrical sensors (via larger and more energy-efficient green [abc]LED[/abc]s), the brand-new Health Tracking System pairs with the power of the S11 chip. As a result, the Apple Watch Ultra 4 measures heart rate variability (HRV) every five minutes and performs background readings every five seconds (60 times more background readings than on the Ultra 3). All this data powers a new Readiness Index, sleep score, as well as the long-awaited sleep apnea and hypertension notifications.

Apple Watch Ultra 4, the extreme multisport watch On the track, by bike, or underwater, the Ultra 4 goes the extra mile to analyze each workout accurately. It integrates advanced metrics (running power, cadence, VO2 max estimate, heart rate zones) and an automatic track detection feature for runners.

Cyclists will appreciate seeing their data via Live Activity directly on the iPhone, while hikers will benefit from offline map downloads, custom route creation, and the essential satellite emergency call in case of trouble. Finally, thanks to the Oceanic+ app, the watch still transforms into a true dive computer.

Apple Watch Ultra 4, 50 hours of battery life and 3,000-nit display Thanks to optimized and more efficient training algorithms, the Ultra 4 has endurance pushed to the extreme. It offers up to 50 hours of battery life for typical daily use and peaks at 84 hours in Low Power Mode. During intense efforts, it allows up to 18 hours of standard workout tracking, and up to 45 hours in “extended workout” mode (ideal for completing an ultra-trail). The display is no slouch either, with an always-on wide-angle Retina display capable of reaching a dazzling peak brightness of 3,000 nits for perfect readability in bright sunlight.
