Recently, it was announced that Anne Hathaway had landed the leading female role in this sequel, even though details about her character remain secret for the time being.
Nicole Kidman’s noncommittal response
A new Radar Online article now cites an industry insider, claiming that Tom Cruise would very much like Nicole Kidman to reprise her role. The actress’s current artistic priorities as well as her schedule would, however, make such a reunion difficult. The source nevertheless specifies that Kidman has not yet formally turned down the offer: “It would be quite a shift for Nicole to join a buddy film like Days of Thunder 2, directed by a filmmaker from the world of Seth Rogen and his broad comedies. Even if it is only a notable one-scene cameo, everything has to be creatively perfect for her to agree. The decision belongs to Nicole, and Nicole alone.”
And it is precisely the fact that she did not immediately close the door that suggests these reunions may not be entirely impossible. Days of Thunder 2 is currently due to be released in cinemas in June 2028.
