TCL P89L TV: new Mini LED series from 55'' to 98 inches

Already presented in our columns, the TCL P89L series returns in the sixth week for a major correction in terms of specifications. Introduced at the end of July with a Full [abc]LED[/abc] [abc]Local Dimming[/abc] backlighting system, all P89L screens are in fact Mini LED, like the 98" already mentioned as such originally. The P89L series therefore adds to the manufacturer’s Mini LED range with the TCL C6K Pro, TCL C7L, TCL C8L, TCL RM9L and TCL X11L 2026 Mini LED TV series already presented. And to be complete on TCL’s 2026 TV lineup, it is also necessary to mention the entry-level TCL P6L Ultra HD 4K series and the TCL P79L QLED series.

For the rest of the technical features, nothing changes. Starting with the design, still premium, notably thanks to an elegant and slim metal bar present at the bottom and an extremely discreet frame around the LCD panel to let the image take center stage. And for the stand, it is a dual design on all diagonals. The TCL P89L series includes five [abc]Ultra HD[/abc] [abc]4K[/abc] references: the TCL 55P89L (55'', 140 cm), TCL 65P89L (65'', 165 cm), TCL 75P89L (75'', 191 cm), TCL 85P89L (85'', 216 cm) and TCL 98P89L (98'', 249 cm).

TCL P89L, Mini LED Local Dimming backlighting [abc]Ultra HD[/abc] [abc]4K[/abc] [abc]LCD[/abc] models, the TCL P89L televisions are equipped with a Mini [abc]LED[/abc] [abc]Local Dimming[/abc] backlighting system featuring 64 to 96 zones depending on the diagonals, except for the 98" which has 512. Of course, Quantum Dots technology (nanocrystals) is present, with 65% coverage of the Rec/2020 gamut thanks to nanocrystals with a novel alloy, offering a more pronounced response to light. The whole is combined with a 10-bit 144 Hz [abc]LCD[/abc] panel of HVA type and AiPQ Pro Processor video processing.

In the menu of technical features, the TCL P89L televisions display a peak brightness of 400 nits, except for the 98" which reaches 1,000 nits. In terms of HDR, HDR10, [abc]HDR10+[/abc], [abc]HDR HLG[/abc] and [abc]HDR Dolby Vision[/abc] technologies are included. One can also mention 120 Hz MEMC motion compensation, an anti-reflective treatment and a blue light reduction mode.

TCL P89L, gaming-focused capabilities up to 288 Hz It features a display of up to 288 Hz in [abc]1 080p[/abc] for a smoother and more enjoyable gaming experience. It also offers VRR compatibility (from 48 Hz to 144 Hz), plus a Game mode with an Input Lag of around 12 milliseconds.

TCL P89L, 2.0 or 2.1 audio section up to 40 W and Google TV On the audio side, the TCL P89L TVs deliver 20 W in [abc]2.0[/abc] configuration (2 x 10 W) for the 55" model, 35 W in [abc]2.1[/abc] (2 x 10 W + 15 W) for the 65"/75", and 40 W (2 x 10 W + 20 W) for the 85" and 98-inch models.
