Apple connected glasses: a sports and health focus to avoid controversy?

For its highly anticipated foray into the smart glasses market, Apple could focus on features dedicated to sports and well-being. A proven strategic angle that would allow the company to sidestep the sometimes controversial reputation that clings to this category of devices.

At their release, several emblematic devices from the Apple brand sometimes struggled to find their audience before Apple cleverly redirected its messaging toward physical activity and health. The Apple Watch is the most striking example, now boasting colossal success, not to mention the iPod Shuffle in its time, still favored by a few devoted athletes.

 

Apple connected glasses: sport and health in the spotlight 

Based on his sources and recent job offers posted by Apple, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg estimates that Apple’s connected glasses could adopt such a strategy. As a reminder, this product category has a sorry reputation, with AI glasses known as a gadget favored by perverts, scammers and other cheaters.

 

Apple connected glasses: announcement at WWDC 2027? 

In short, an interesting option for Apple, which is actively working on privacy-respecting features for its glasses, which will be announced in June 2027 at WWDC. Gurman adds, however, that this highlighting of sport and health features may only come with the second generation of the manufacturer’s AI glasses.
