iPhone 18 Pro/Max, so-so?

It seems we shouldn't expect any radical changes to the new iPhones coming this fall.
The rumors circulating for the past few months paint a rather lukewarm picture of what the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, expected this fall, have in store for us. iPhone 18 Pro/Pro Max, iPhone 17S Pro/Pro Max in disguise? Basically, these models will offer a slight evolution and not a compelling enough argument to convince iPhone owners to upgrade immediately. This sentiment was recently corroborated by Bloomberg insider Mark Gurman, who is generally well-informed about Apple's inner workings. According to him, the iPhone 18 Pro/Max will not be "major updates," reminiscent of the time when Apple added an "S" to a model name to signify minor improvements. Aside from a new variable shutter camera system and more powerful processors, these smartphones will look very similar to the iPhone 17 Pro/Max. This will allow all the attention to be given to the first foldable iPhone, which will be released at the same time and will then be the star device of the range, a position usually occupied by the Pro/Max models.
