CES 26 > Lego Smart Play, the bricks connect
08.01.2026 • 15h17
At CES 2026, Lego unveiled its latest electronic innovation to push the boundaries of playful creativity even further.
Lego's new Smart Play system introduces the latest smart technologies to traditional brick building, giving it an even more interactive dimension. This new technology "will bring the game to life, including sensors, accelerometers, a light sensor and a sound sensor, as well as a miniature speaker powered by a built-in synthesizer, and much more, plus easy wireless charging," explains the brand. New Lego Smart is cool! Three new elements are at the heart of this new way to play: the Smart Brick, which reacts to movement, touch, and more, and detects other elements to generate unique responses; Smart Tags, which tell the Smart Brick what object it should become and what sounds to make; and Smart Minifigures, which make Smart Bricks react in ways specific to each model. The possible combinations are limited only by the player's imagination, creating an infinite number of interactive, auditory, and visual situations. The first kits incorporating Smart Play are available for pre-order starting January 9th, and three Star Wars sets are even planned for release in early March.
