Display manufacturer TCL CSOT unveils a new generation of Micro LED screens designed for augmented reality devices.
Chinese company TCL CSOT recently unveiled a new "Retina-quality" Micro LED display technology for future augmented reality headsets and glasses. TCL CSOT Micro LED Display, Main Specifications: While high-end devices like the Apple Vision Pro and Samsung Galaxy XR feature 1.3" to 1.4" diagonal screens, the TCL CSOT display is significantly more compact at 0.28", allowing it to be positioned even closer to the eye. At its latest annual conference, TCL specified that the screen has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels (5131 ppi) and 500,000 nits of brightness, which is obviously reduced before reaching the eye via a light guide. For comparison, the screens of Ray-Ban Meta glasses are low-resolution LCoS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) displays. (600 x 600 pixels). TCL's Micro LED models could therefore represent the future of this type of product, which is likely to become increasingly popular.
