SVS Smyth Realiser A16 Core Speaker, price reduced and 9.1.6 virtual home theater

As announced, following our news about the Smyth Realiser A16 Core, we're back with another new product from SVS Smyth Realiser: the Smyth Realiser A16 Core Speaker. In short, this latest version brings all the qualities of the A16 Core headphones to a simple pair of speakers.
As a reminder, the original SVS Smyth Realiser A8 (click to read AVcesar's review and learn all about the product's amazing capabilities) is a truly brilliant system capable of reproducing any audio experience through headphones, without speakers, as if you were actually there. It can also track the wearer's head movements while watching a film on screen to real-time "recalibrate" the sound to the correct position in the soundstage around the viewer's head. Two other models followed: the Smyth Realiser A16 and Smyth Realiser A16 SE (pictured below).

Smyth Realiser A16 Core and Smyth Realiser A16 Core Speaker, 16-channel versions

At the end of 2025, the Smyth Realiser A16 Core and Smyth Realiser A16 Core Speaker (or A16 CS) arrive, two horizontally formatted and more affordable versions thanks to their virtual home theater configuration management up to 16 channels, rather than 24. More than enough, let's face it, to fully enjoy even the most sophisticated soundtracks from content available via streaming services or 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray discs. As for the rest of the features, nothing changes…

The SVS Smyth Realiser concept

It is possible, for example, to record or enjoy the sound signature of the largest cinemas, concert halls, or even home theaters in terms of space (see the Smyth Realiser website for more information), equipment, and acoustic treatment (64 sound signatures can be stored), and then enjoy it identically in your sofa and living room through simple stereo headphones. The listener experiences exactly the same auditory sensations. "You feel like you're surrounded by real speakers and hearing them directly, as if the headphones weren't there," says Dr. Mike Smyth, the designer of the SVS process, who, along with his brother Dr. Stephen Smyth, is also responsible for the Coherent Acoustic patent used by DTS.

Focus on the SVS Realiser A16 Core Speaker

The SVS Smyth Realiser A16 Core Speaker, always usable in tandem with two headphones, offers the reproduction of a configuration of up to sixteen speakers virtually distributed around the listener, hence its name. The Realiser A16 Core can therefore handle Dolby Atmos soundtracks (up to 9.1.6) and DTS:X soundtracks via four HDMI 2.0 inputs. The eARC function for retrieving Dolby Atmos soundtracks from streaming services is, of course, included. DTS, DTS:X, and Auro 3D decoding are available as options. The Smyth Realiser A16 Core Speaker naturally retains all the specifications of the A16 Core. But above all, it incorporates sound processing by the French company AudioXD which, simply put, aims to offer the exact virtual surround sound capabilities of the A16 Core, up to 9.1.6, via a pair of passive speakers rather than headphones. And the result is simply stunning (you can listen to/hear a demonstration by clicking on the following link: Visit AV-in).
