Shenzhen-based Tecno Mobile is shaking up the mobile industry with an innovation that may one day be standard on all high-end smartphones. Its Phantom X2 Pro model, which should be released in China at the end of 2022, has the first retractable camera lens.

Of the three main sensors of the photo module, one is therefore capable of taking images comparable to those of a digital SLR, thanks to its motorized system which literally takes it out of the smartphone. It automatically pops out when the photo app's Portrait mode is activated, and retracts when it's no longer needed.

This sensor offers a 2.5x optical zoom, an f/1.49 aperture and a 65mm focal length for a true depth of field effect. Namely, on the video side, the smartphone can film in Ultra HD 4K at 60 frames / second.
