Klipsch Reference Base 2022 series, 10 new speakers: towers, bookcases, Dolby Atmos, central units and subwoofers...

The Klipsch Reference Base series of speakers appeared in 2014, renewed in 2018 and updated again in 2022. On the menu, a revolution in the bottom and an evolution in the shape in addition to a reduction in the number of references. We start the presentations with the columns before returning to the surrounds, the centrals, the subwoofers and the active speakers in as many later news items.

The American manufacturer, for the Klipsch Reference Base 2022 series, unveiled a total of ten new references. No matter the desired Hi-Fi or, of course, Home Cinema configuration, the Klipsch Reference 2022 series meets all needs.

As indicated in the introduction to this news, we are therefore starting the presentations with the three floorstanding speakers Klipsch R-800F, Klipsch R-600F and Klipsch R-605FA. If the first two differ mainly according to the size of the onboard boomers (see the specifications of each model below), the last integrates directly at its top a Dolby Atmos (Height) module consisting of a tweeter of 2, 5 cm and a 13.33 cm medium-woofer in injection molded graphite (see photo above), in Up-Firing position (directed towards the ceiling). Everything is of course tilted at 15° to meet the specifications of Dolby Laboratories.

Klipsch Reference Base 2022, acoustic package

Technically, the Klipsch reference loudspeakers incorporate all of the brand's audio DNA, starting with an unprecedented 90° x 90° Tractrix horn with wider distribution and in edge-to-edge configuration (the horn occupies the entire width of the the enclosure (see photo above of the Klipsch R-800F) for sound dispersion, but also maximum precision and clarity. The sound stage is therefore also widened. This horn is associated with a tweeter in LTS (Linear Travel Suspension) aluminum with Kapton suspension, which offers minimum distortion.Similarly, the woofers benefit from the Klipsch TCP (Thermoformed Crystalline Polymer) process with a revised cone geometry for the 2022 model year (see photo). below). The polymer material combines rigidity and lightness for an even more powerful rendering of low frequencies. To come back to the cones of these loudspeakers, they benefit from an accentuated hollow shape and thus approach the profile of the loudspeakers of the enc Klipsch Reference Premiere (presentation to come).

In addition to new speakers, the Klipsch Refrence Base also benefit from a reinforced cabinet, with the aim of eliminating resonance and distortion phenomena.

Klipsch Reference Base 2022, Dolby Atmos R-40SA speaker connectors

Last details, the Klipsch Reference speakers feature magnetic grilles, a scratch-resistant wood-effect vinyl finish and, of course, the brand's trademark copper-colored cones. Note for these 2022 models, the absence of screws on the front for a magnified aesthetic. We still notice connectors an ingenious and perfectly placed connector system on the Dolby Atmos Klipsch R-40SA speakers (presentation to come) and the R-800F, R-600F columns to facilitate the addition of the first named on the seconds. It's practical, simple and it avoids long cables to manage behind the speakers.
