His longtime collaborator, Jonny Greenwood, who composed the music for several of his films, told Screen Daily: "Paul is about to press the button for his next film." The composer also revealed that he had already started learning to play a new musical instrument that will play a central role in the film.
Is jazz there?
According to him, Anderson was still considering several ideas recently, but has now apparently chosen one and seems to have regained all the momentum needed to launch into this new project. When the journalist points out that he had imagined he would have to wait some time before discovering a new PTA film, Greenwood replies: "You always think the next film is going to take years to make, and often it does. But he made Licorice Pizza in just a few months."
According to some rumors, one of the most serious leads would be a film devoted to jazz, set in the 1940s around the Dunbar Hotel in the South Central neighborhood of Los Angeles. Denzel Washington and Tiffany Haddish had already been linked to this project, but their involvement was never confirmed.
