Tom Cruise in Digger, the incredible, totally new trailer!

Warner Bros. has launched a rather unusual promotional campaign for Digger, the new film by Alejandro González Iñárritu, director of Birdman and The Revenant, starring Tom Cruise.
This previously unseen 20-second clip appears at the very end of a 3-minute retrospective trailer dedicated to Tom Cruise, which covers almost his entire filmography, including clips from films produced by rival studios. A number of iconic titles are featured: Top Gun, Interview with the Vampire, All the Right Moves, Risky Business, Live, Die Hard, The Last Samurai, Magnolia, Collateral, Oblivion, Days of Thunder, Rain Man, Jerry Maguire, Born on the Fourth of July, Minority Report, Vanilla Sky, A Few Good Men, Cocktail, Far and Away, War of the Worlds, Tropic Thunder, Jack Reacher, Eyes Wide Shut, Top Gun: Maverick, Rock of Ages, and the various Mission: Impossible films.

Digger: save or destroy the world? Then come the images of Digger, which quite clearly evoke the shadow of Stanley Kubrick's Dr. Strangelove (1964). Tom Cruise plays a powerful man convinced he can save the world, before massive destruction is triggered by the catastrophic consequences of his own actions. In just a few seconds, the actor appears in a demented register, very different from his recent roles, which only further fuels the curiosity surrounding the film.

Shot on 35mm VistaVision, with Emmanuel Lubezki as cinematographer, Digger also stars Riz Ahmed, Sandra Hüller, John Goodman, and Jesse Plemons. Iñárritu co-wrote the screenplay with Nicolás Giacobone and Alexander Dinelaris, for his first English-language film in ten years. Digger will be released exclusively in theaters in October. Its first real trailer will be released online on July 13th.
