Apple HomePod: Software update 27 transforms the speaker into a DJ with AutoMix

Announced following WWDC 2026, the upcoming Apple HomePod Software 27 update will roll out the highly anticipated AutoMix feature to the brand's smart speakers this fall. Thanks to artificial intelligence, the device will be able to seamlessly mix tracks by synchronizing tempo and pitch, offering a musical experience worthy of a professional DJ.
In addition to iPhones, Macs, and iPads, Apple's new "27" updates arriving this fall also include other products from the manufacturer, such as HomePod speakers. AutoMix: Artificial Intelligence at the Decks; HomePod Software 27 introduces the AutoMix feature, which uses artificial intelligence to seamlessly blend two tracks by matching scales and tempo, just like a professional DJ. On the current HomePod Software 26, only a simple crossfade is available for smooth transitions between tracks. Backward Compatibility to the Original HomePod from 2018; Already available on other Apple devices, AutoMix has also been improved thanks to its algorithms, which generate new types of transitions, according to Apple. The speakers should therefore benefit from this update. Finally, note that HomePod Software 27 should also be coming to the very first HomePod released in 2018, whose production ceased in 2021.
