The industrial merger took everyone by surprise... Loewe Technology acquired Cabasse for €400,000, aiming to combine German design with French acoustic expertise. The deal comes just as Cabasse was placed under court-ordered administration on March 9, 2026. Following Barco's acquisition of Focal/Naim (see our news article "Barco acquires Focal and Naim: a major turning point in premium audio"), this acquisition dramatically alters the landscape of the premium audio sector.
Loewe Technology (which counts Kylian Mbappé as a shareholder with over 10% of the capital) has confirmed the acquisition of the French company Cabasse. The latter, placed under court-ordered administration on March 9, 2026, thus falls under the control of a German player that intends to capitalize on its premium image. That's the gist of it. The transaction is far from a simple accounting consolidation. It reflects a broader strategy of industrial restructuring, both for Loewe and for Cabasse... An alliance that aims for more than just survival. The official statement emphasizes a balanced cooperation, far from a classic takeover. Cabasse is to remain independent, retain its Brest base (see photo below), 24 of its 26 employees, its roadmap, and its engineering autonomy. On paper, the structure seems appealing. Loewe seeks to create value by leveraging an already substantial technological portfolio. The strategy is clear: to leverage recognized operational expertise and a commercial platform capable of accelerating the international distribution of high-margin products, with the aim of establishing itself as a major player in the luxury sector. Why Cabasse remains a rare asset: Cabasse owes its reputation to more than just chance. Founded in Brittany, the company established itself thanks to its coaxial speakers, the precision of its sound reproduction, and audio research that has fueled iconic products (Sphere Evo, see photo below). In this segment, scarcity stems as much from technical mastery as from the consistency of the experience. Loewe understood this well. By building on this heritage, the German group acquires proprietary technologies, a patent base, and acoustic expertise that can inform future audio and video ranges.
