iPhone Ultra, exclusive 3-year contract with Samsung Display

Unsurprisingly, the screens used in the very first foldable iPhone will be supplied exclusively by Samsung Display.
For the next three years, Samsung will supply the screen for the iPhone Ultra, Apple's first-ever foldable model. Samsung secures production of the iPhone Ultra's foldable screen. This is revealed by the Korean media outlet The Elec, which specifies that it is an exclusive agreement, and that Apple will therefore not be able to source the screen from anywhere else for this model. A relatively minor constraint in reality, given that Samsung is a pioneer and leader in the field of foldable mobile displays, and that Apple's demanding screen specifications were developed in advance with the Korean manufacturer. iPhone foldable screen: production starting in the second quarter of 2026 for 3 million units. We also learn that the screen will use materials similar to the M14 OLED model of the iPhone 17 Pro Max, for reasons of reliability and cost, even though the exclusive foldable technology is a first for Apple. Production of the foldable OLED screens will begin at Samsung Display in the second quarter of 2026, with an initial quantity of 3 million units. The iPhone Ultra, for its part, will be released between September and December of this year.
