Low adoption rate for iOS26

A major aesthetic overhaul, anticipated (or not?) for years, the new iOS26 operating system is apparently being shunned by iPhone users.
Last September saw the arrival of the new iPhone software update, iOS 26, the most significant in years, notably for its completely redesigned interface dubbed "Liquid Glass." Is iOS 26 struggling to gain traction? This change was met with a lukewarm reception from some users and still seems to be failing to convince four months after its release. This is revealed by data collected by StatCounter, which reports that approximately 15% of active iPhones worldwide are running iOS 26. For comparison, at the same time last year, this figure was 63% for iOS 18, which had also been released four months earlier. The same was true for iOS 27 in 2024 with 54%, and iOS 16 in 2023 with 60%. Disappointing, therefore, even though we await official figures from Apple to confirm or refute these results.
