CES 26 > Asus ROG Xreal R1: a 171” (434 cm) screen on its nose
07.01.2026 • 16h27
At CES 2026 in Las Vegas, Asus is presenting Micro OLED glasses, simulating the presence of a gigantic screen in front of the user.
In collaboration with Xreal, Asus presents the ROG Xreal R1, glasses whose main function is reminiscent of one of the strengths of the Apple Vision Pro: simulating a very large screen without needing… a screen. Asus ROG Xreal R1, main specifications: Like the Apple Vision Pro, the Asus model features Micro OLED screens and boasts a featherweight 91 grams. These are indeed glasses, not a bulky headset. However, the resolution suffers as a result, being limited to 1080p at 240 Hz. The glasses connect via USB-C to the included ROG Control Dock, which features DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 ports for connecting PCs and consoles. The lenses use electrochromic technology to automatically adjust their transparency, allowing you to prioritize the real world or the virtual screen. The virtual screen can follow your gaze or remain fixed, depending on your preferred setting. Finally, the integrated audio system in the temples is designed by Bose and offers 3D sound. Asus explains, "The glasses' 57° field of view (FOV) provides a spacious virtual image while still allowing good visibility of the real world, giving you the ability to see more and do more." This field of view means that using the ROG Xreal R1 glasses is like sitting in front of an impressive 171" screen from a distance of four meters. Whether you're playing blockbusters or watching them, you'll have the screen you need to fully enjoy the greatest entertainment. Availability is announced for the first half of 2026.
