Will Twitter be resurrected in 2026?

Like the phoenix, the small bird symbolizing fire on the social network Twitter could rise from its ashes after being eliminated and then replaced by "X" under the leadership of Elon Musk.
After acquiring Twitter, tech mogul Elon Musk initially eliminated the social network's name, replacing it with X. The transition was difficult, but over time, the new name was accepted, even if some nostalgic users still miss the little blue bird. The startup Operation Bluebird aims to reclaim the Twitter brand and has launched a petition with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, requesting the cancellation of the trademark registration for the terms Tweet and Tweeter, currently held by X, Musk's company. "The Twitter and Tweet trademarks have been eradicated from X Corp.'s products, services, and marketing materials, effectively abandoning this iconic brand with no intention of resuming use of these trademarks," the petition explains. Will Twitter return in 2026? The road ahead could be long… Trademark abandonment is a legal reality, but requires numerous conditions to be met, including the explicit expression by the trademark holder of a desire to cease using said trademark. In 2023, Musk declared that his company would "say goodbye to the Twitter brand and, gradually, to all birds." But it's hard to imagine the tech giant abandoning this name (X Corp, in fact, just filed a lawsuit yesterday against the startup Operation Bluebird), especially since Operation Bluebird intends to launch its own social network as early as 2026, preferably with the famous name.
