The Apple Watch continues its mission to serve humanity by saving another life, thanks to its fall detection feature.
After the Emergency SOS and Heart Rate Monitor features, it's now the Apple Watch's fall detection that's making headlines, after it came to the aid of a man who had fallen in the mountains. Saved by the Apple Watch Ultra £3 At the end of October, Phong Le was taking a short hike on the slopes of Mount Helen in Colorado and paused for a moment on a rock to study his map. Unfortunately, the rock gave way beneath his feet, and the hiker began to tumble down a very steep slope. As if one misfortune wasn't enough, at the very beginning of the accident, Phong's hat fell over his eyes, rendering him blind for almost the entire descent. "My first thought was, 'That's it, I'm dead,'" reported the survivor, who hit multiple obstacles during his long fall. Once he came to a stop, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 on the hiker's wrist naturally detected the fall and called for help via the iPhone, which also survived the fall. Guided by the Apple Watch Ultra 3, Phong Le was rescued by the Summit County rescue team a few hours later. Aside from a few lacerations, two sprained wrists, and a bruised back, he escaped relatively unscathed, without a single fracture. "I've had minor falls that triggered it before," the hiker explained regarding Fall Detection. "But this was the first time I thought, 'Yes, please call emergency services.'"
