Robocop in Detroit: 50% man, 50% machine, 100% statue!

After fifteen years of waiting, the statue honoring the most legendary cyber cop in cinema has finally been installed in his hometown of Detroit.
Paul Verhoeven's classic, Robocop, released in 1987, is a legend of action and science fiction cinema, adored by millions of fans. Its cult status is so great that a project to erect a statue in homage to the half-man, half-robot cop was launched more than fifteen years ago. We were already discussing this project in 2013, when it was on the verge of becoming a reality. Alas, over the years, various obstacles, including bureaucratic hurdles, deprived the public of this icon, relegating it to the corner of a warehouse before the stars finally aligned. A Mega Cop in Detroit! The moment has finally arrived, and the 3.3-meter, 1,500-kilogram bronze statue has finally found its place in the city of Detroit, where Robocop takes place. To house the beautiful and massive object, the project's creators contacted Jim Toscano, a film producer and recent owner of a suitable venue in the northeast of the lower city. "It's too unusual, too unique, too cool not to do it," said Toscano. He added that an iconic quote from the film was particularly fitting for the situation: "Thank you for your cooperation."
