Neo, the first humanoid robot in the home
03.11.2025 • 13h05
Starting next year, beginning in the United States, households will be able to welcome a new member to the family: a synthetic being who can be used as desired.
Before Apple, before Tesla, and others, the American company 1X Home Robots will be a pioneer in the home humanoid robot market with Neo, a model that performs everyday tasks in your home (and always looks like it's wearing a turtleneck). Neo, the humanoid robot: how does it work? The robot operates using a large language model (the famous LLM), the basis of artificial intelligence like ChatGPT or Perplexity, and it learns your habits to provide intelligent suggestions. It also responds to voice commands to perform various tasks such as folding laundry, organizing shelves, and other household chores. It's also possible to teach it more specific actions, with the help of a 1X employee who will handle the necessary programming. Neo is also equipped with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a three-way sound system, functioning like a luxury speaker. Luxury, because the device will be launched in 2026 at a suggested retail price of $20,000, or via one of those ubiquitous subscription plans ($499 per month). A small note following a test conducted by the Wall Street Journal: Neo is sometimes not autonomous, and a 1X employee can observe what is happening in your home via the robot's integrated camera. This is to "collect data to improve Neo," explains the company. After its launch in the United States, the robot will arrive in other markets starting in 2027.
