Focus on Samsung's Glare Free anti-reflective TV technology

When Samsung introduced it to the market last year on the S95D OLED TV series (see our comprehensive review of the Samsung TQ65S95D model), the Glare Free anti-reflective matte coating was an immediate success. Its effectiveness in eliminating reflections caused by ambient light was unanimously praised. In 2025, Samsung is back with Glare Free 2.0 technology, which significantly improves performance. Here's how.
While current screens, and particularly [abc]Oled[/abc], are capable of offering impressive image dynamics, it is unfortunate that their performance is degraded by the presence of reflection from a window or any other light source present in the room. To be honest, until the Samsung Glare Free solution, most Oled televisions had mirror panels that limited their use in certain interiors: bay windows and windows during the day, spotlights and street lamps at night, all of which put some consumers off making the switch to Oled.

Glare Free coating, what's that?££££ Aware of the problem, Oled TV brands offered some with an X filter, some with a Y coating, without however completely addressing the problem. And the Samsung Glare Free arrived (without rushing) but with a truly stunning rendering compared to that of the Oled diffusers available on the market. The Glare Free anti-reflective treatment (versions 1.0 and 2.0) applied to [abc]LCD[/abc] and Oled panels is in fact an innovative filter with a particularly well-crafted raised texture, whose mission is to diffuse incident ambient light in all directions. This dispersion thus opposes the appearance of unwanted reflections. A feature which, as is easily understood, therefore offers greater freedom in positioning the television within the room. Regardless of its arrangement in relation to the light sources, the image benefits from excellent contrast, deep blacks and vivid colors, especially in the presence of an [abc]HDR[/abc] signal.

Glare Free 2.0 coating, the same but better!££££ Glare Free technology quickly won over consumers and established itself as an effective sales argument, obvious to everyone and easy to demonstrate in stores. However, while the advantages of the first generation Glare Free process (1.0), carried over to the Samsung QN90F 4K Mini LED UHD TV series from 2025, are undeniable and sufficient for the vast majority of viewers, there remained a small defect visible to the most demanding: slightly grayish blacks in ambient light conditions. A flaw perfectly erased with the Glare Free 2.0 process (see our news Samsung TV Oled & Mini LED 2025, zoom on the anti-reflective coating Glare Free 2.0, to appreciate the enormous evolution made by Samsung in one year) available in 2025 on the TV series [abc]Oled[/abc] Samsung S95F plus the two TV series [abc]LCD[/abc] Mini [abc]LED[/abc] [abc]Ultra HD[/abc] [abc]8K[/abc] Samsung QN900F and Samsung QN990F.

Samsung TV 2025, to each its Glare Free filter££££ And you will have understood from reading above the references concerned by the Glare Free filter, versions 1.0 and 2.0 coexist within the range Samsung 2025 TV. The first one is on the brand's most exclusive 4K UHD TVs, the QN90F (from 43" to 115"), the second one on the premium Oled UHD 4K S95F TVs (from 55" to 83") and Mini [abc]LED[/abc] [abc]Ultra HD[/abc] [abc]8K[/abc] LCD QN900F and QN990F with an absolutely incredible result: reflections are even more erased on the screen while preserving an abysmal density of blacks (see our test of the Oled Samsung TQ55S95F model by clicking on its reference). In use, the matte coating of the Samsung S95F, combined with the very wide viewing angle of an Oled panel, really changes the game in bright spaces by always offering perfect readability of the image, regardless of its position in front of the screen. In addition to more than appreciable viewing comfort, it offers new possibilities in terms of layout.

If with a glossy screen or an inefficient anti-reflective coating, the position of the television is constrained by the location of the openings and/or lights, with a Glare Free TV, its positioning becomes completely free…
