iPhone Air: Will it (finally) bend under torture?

One of YouTube's most sadistic videographers has gotten his hands on the iPhone Air. We'll let you guess what happens next...

Sensitive souls, refrain. The video above shows a brand new iPhone Air undergoing the worst tortures, in the name of science.

The iPhone Air reassures about its resistance to cutters and fire££££

We told you about it in a previous news item on the subject of the solidity of the new iPhone Air (see our news item iPhone Air, will it bend or not?), Zack Nelson of the YouTube channel JerryRigEverything specializes in testing the solidity of electronic gadgets, in order to verify the manufacturers' claims regarding the robustness of their devices. This process is also not without a touch of sadism. Apple's brand new iPhone Air is thus taking cuts from cutters and flames on the screen. Bottom line: Prolonged exposure to fire doesn't affect the screen, and Apple's new Ceramic Shield 2 is even more effective than its predecessor against attempts to cut the screen.

iPhone Air, surprising resistance to crash tests££££

But where we expected Apple to be, it's on the thinness (5.6mm) of the device and its resistance to bending. As a result, human force can bend the iPhone Air but the product will immediately return to its original shape thanks to the titanium. Zack then has to take out a mechanical torture instrument from behind his garage to really test the robustness of the smartphone. In the end, it will take a pressure of 98 kilos applied to a specific point to finally break the device.

Apple thus comes out with flying colors with an iPhone Air that should survive everyday accidents, and which will normally not repeat the fiasco experienced by the iPhone 6 - the thinnest after the iPhone Air - bending far too easily for consumers' tastes.
